Every Pilot model also comes with a multi-angle rearview camera with three different views including normal, top-down, and wide, to make getting in and out of tight spaces much easier. The camera comes as a part of the standard equipment list on the Pilot, and on the EX, EX-L, Touring, and Elite trims, the camera comes standard with upgraded dynamic guidelines.
Another feature on the Pilot is a blind-spot sensing system. With sensors on the rear bumper, drivers have extra help deciding if the coast is clear to change lanes.
The Honda Sensing package is a suite of driver-assist technology designed to help drivers drive better, see more, and navigate more safely on the road. The Honda Sensing technologies come standard on the Touring and Elite trims, and are available options on the EX and EX-L. The features and systems that come with the Honda Sensing package include:
Road Departure Mitigation System – This system uses a small camera that can identify and monitor road markings and lane lines and can alert the driver if it detects that the Pilot is drifting from the road. If no action is taken by the driver, the Pilot can employ the brakes and steering to help stop the Pilot from going off the road.
Lane Keeping Assist System – This system can detect if the Pilot is straying from its designated lane on the highway without a signal change. It can nudge the steering wheel to straighten the Pilot back into the center of the lane.
Adaptive Cruise Control – This system takes into consideration a set desired speed along with a desired distance interval between the Pilot and vehicles ahead of you on the road. It will automatically adjust the Pilot’s speed to keep a harmonious balance between these two settings and keep the Pilot seamlessly integrated with the natural flow of traffic so the driver doesn’t have to manually keep slowing down or speeding up.
Forward Collision Warning – This system warns the driver if an oncoming vehicle or other object is dangerously approaching the Pilot.
Collision Mitigation System – If this system detects a dangerous and unavoidable approaching vehicle or object, it can engage the brakes to bring the Pilot to a stop and help mitigate any collision.
There are even more driver-assist technology systems available throughout the Pilot’s trim levels. Some other features that become available as you explore the higher-level Pilot models include:
Honda LaneWatch – Coming standard on the EX, EX-L, and Touring trims is Honda LaneWatch, which uses a camera mounted on the passenger-side mirror to display a live video feed of the right lane when the driver signals for a lane change. With this system, the driver can see up to four times more than using the mirror alone.
Auto High-Beam Headlights – Standard on the Elite trim, these headlights turn on and off automatically without the driver’s input. So during long stretches inside the Pilot, through different weather conditions, or going from day to night, drivers can rest assured that the Pilot can always be seen by other vehicles.
Blind Spot Monitoring System with Cross Traffic Monitor – Also standard on the Elite trim, this system gives drivers extra assistance and assurance that when changing lanes on the highway it is safe to do so.
