The Honda Sensing suite currently consists of 10 intelligent and intuitive safety-enhancing systems and features. Individually, each of these features serves an important purpose, but when put together they create a wonderful wall of safety between the driver and possible road hazards. The features included with Honda Sensing and a little bit about them are as follows:
Lane Departure Warning (LDW) – Responsible for determining if the vehicle is drifting unintentionally from its intended lane and alerting the driver with flashing and sounding alerts to bring their attention to correcting the problem.
Lane Keeping Assist System(LKAS) – Similar to LDW, this system works to detect drift and automatically correct steering to center the vehicle back in its lane.
Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) – If the vehicle begins to drift to the side of the road without prior warning, this system sends out vibrations to the steering wheel to alert the driver. The system can also correct steering and apply braking when necessary.
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) – Helps to easily maintain a set following speed so that you can give your foot a rest and worry less about manually adjusting your speed.
Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) – If the vehicle detects a possible collision, this system will help to brake the vehicle for you to assist in avoiding an accident.
Forward Collision Warning(FCW) – This system works hand-in-hand with the CMBS to help increase accident prevention. If the system detects that the vehicle is quickly approaching a vehicle it sends alerts to the driver to let them know to slow the vehicle. If this doesn’t work, the CMBS kicks into action.
Honda LaneWatch – When you signal to change to the right lane, Honda LaneWatch displays the lane next to you onto the display touchscreen using a side-mirror camera to give you a clear view of the next lane—making changing lanes simpler and safer.
Blind Spot Information System – This system sends out sounds and blinking lights when you engage your turn signal and there is a vehicle in the lane next to you, eliminating blind spots and helping avoid accidents.
Cross Traffic Monitor – Similar to the Blind Spot Information System, the Cross Traffic Monitor sends out signals to let drivers know if there is an approaching vehicle coming from either side when attempting to reverse.
Auto High-Beam Headlights – This intuitive system helps keep your path lit with minimal manual effort. If you’re driving above 25 mph at night, the auto high-beam headlights will toggle on and off when necessary by reading the surrounding driving conditions.
