The 2015 Honda CR-V is available now at Detroit Area Honda Dealers, and while we think it’s the best crossover SUV of 2015, we’re not alone in loving this crossover. It was named the 2015 Motor Trend Sport/Utility of the Year, and we want to let you know exactly why.
After advancements to the already popular crossover, we think that this is just the first of a long line of trophies for the CR-V.
Earning Sport/Utility of the Year
The 2015 CR-V received some particularly noteworthy engine updates, and the 2.4L four-cylinder is good for 185 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque. Despite upping its output, the 2015 Honda CR-V 2WD received a boost in efficiency to an EPA-estimated 34 highway mpg* as part of Honda’s Earth Dreams initiative. The brand new CR-V Touring trim also comes with the new Honda Sensing technology with advanced safety features.
Motor Trend editor-in-chief Ed Loh, said, “The 2015 Honda CR-V impressed our judges with its extensive list of delightful design and thoughtful engineering improvements. Our editors were especially impressed by Honda’s responsive and efficient continuously-variable transmission and sophisticated safety systems – particularly the smart and seamlessly integrated Lane Keeping Assist system. Efficient, practical, and a joy to drive; the 2015 Honda CR-V does virtually everything well.”
It wasn’t just a cakewalk, either; the CR-V had to go up against some of the best SUVs in the business, including models from BMW, GMC, Lexus, Chevrolet, and more.
“It is an honor to receive such a prestigious award from the expert staff at Motor Trend,” said Jeff Conrad, SVP & General Manager of Honda Division, American Honda Motor Co, Inc. “Our engineers, planners, and dealers work hard to deliver class leading products to our customers, and it’s extremely rewarding to be recognized for that hard work. This award from Motor Trend reaffirms for us that we’re meeting that goal.”
The vehicles were judged on a wide variety of factors, including:
- Design Advancement
- Engineering Excellence
- Performance of Intended Function
That sounds like the new CR-V is a smart buy to us, how about you?
